Therapeutic relief

Odds are you have experienced the soothing feeling of warm summer sun on your skin. Our heaters, like the sun, produce radiant heat waves which work to heat up water. Because the human body is made up of mostly water, this infrared heat transfers extremely effectively and can help gently increase blood circulation, rid the body of toxins and even provide pain relief.

The benefits of hot yoga are added flexibility and suppleness in your muscles. It allows you to soften until you’re able to bend much deeper. It also allows you to think about your breath in a really different way, because you have to focus on your breath to maintain your physical practice in a heated room. Working in the heat helps your body relax into the postures, and breathing through the poses enhances lung capacity and focuses the mind, which helps develop better mental concentration.

How to prepare for hot yoga

The key to enjoying hot yoga is to go in prepared. It’s important to be well-hydrated before taking a hot yoga class, and we recommend drinking  2-3 Liters of water per day. Before a class, try not to eat too much. Also, be sure to replenish lost minerals and electrolytes with a fortified drink afterward, such as coconut water. Since there is no competition in Yoga, stay aware of how you feel during class and remember to take things at your own pace. Childs pose is always an option, as are taking Vinyasas. There is no need to push yourself further than the body is ready to go. Also, If you have any injuries or health concerns, such as diabetes, cardiovascular or respiratory disease, or a history of heat-related illness, make sure to get your doctor’s OK before practicing hot yoga.

Hot yoga styles

Like with “regular” yoga, hot yoga comes in all kinds of different styles. Bikram yoga, which is practiced at certified studios right across the country and the world, is still considered by many to be the original incarnation of the form. Those classes follow a set sequence of 26 postures and focus on endurance.  At Everglow, we offer multiple styles of Yoga in our Hot Studio, from a gentle Slow Glow class (perfect for beginners), to Ignite (our Hatha style practice), as well as our signature Everglow Flow which is a Vinyasa based flowing practice.

Infrared heat panels

Infrared or radiant heating is simply the transfer of heat from a warm object to a cooler object. The heat is a product of a completely safe spectrum of light that is invisible to our eyes.  Just as the sun heats us our products radiate sun-like warmth to indoor or outdoor spaces, floors, and furniture, rather than heating the air.  Radiant heating products are healthier than traditional forms of heat, as they do not blow dust or allergens. Plus, they don’t make noise. They also do not need filters, fuels, ducts or pumps that require seasonal cleaning and maintenance.
